I am Robert. Nice to meet you.
I am a trilingual product development professional with a background in industrial design, service design, UX and strategy. I have designed a diverse range of products and services for industries including enterprise software, retail, mobility, manufacturing and distribution, analytics, AI and sustainability.
I approach my work by defining the broader context and cause of specific needs or problems, and design and prototype solutions to validate with users and build product. Some of my favorite activities are sketching, brainstorming, field research, designing system and user flows, wire framing and user testing.
My deepest professional interests are in product and service innovation, process automation and optimization, product usability and information architecture.
MY STORY:
Originally from Tokyo I was brought up in an expat family and grew up between Japan, Italy and Belgium. After graduating with a degree in Information Design from Bentley University in Boston, I started my career in advertising in New York City. During the recession I decided to pursue my life long dream of becoming an inventor and moved to the Netherlands for a Master’s Degree in Industrial Design at Delft University of Technology. During my time there, I co-founded a social impact startup called Oto with the aim to create a sustainable packaging solution for beverages. This took me on a 3 year journey including one year in an accelerator (MassChallenge) learning the hardships and joys of running a startup. While this enriched me both personally and professionally, I ultimately decided to transition into the technology space as a UX designer to pursue my dream of working with passionate digital professionals and exciting companies reinventing business. If there were three words that describe me they would be (1) Adaptable, (2) Diplomatic and (3) Ambitious.
